Vaults Over.

Our show at St James' Wine Vaults is over. Seemed to go well, had a bit of interest in my work, so might get some sales. Spreading the Bone Broke word. Ha.

For you gits who didn't come to see it, here are a handful of photos:

Spanking

Re-jigged my website. Added more to to it, and simplified it.
There are still a few tweaks here and there that are needed - a few layout issues that I need to address and a couple of bad quality images to be replaced - but it will do for now!

Getting really into staining my paper first right now. Loving that aged look. Kind of makes it feel more important to me.
Been listening to AC/DC live all day today. Makes me happy inside.

Painty painty oaky.

So, in November I have this mini exhibition. It's a joint show, me and Madeleine Denyer.
For it, I am working on something quite different to what I've been doing lately. The whole idea of it is based on the imagery of religious icons, and feel of good and evil. Scary and Nice. Jekyll and Hyde. The show is around Halloween time, so there is going to be a feel of that too. I'm pretty excited - painting onto chunks of Oak and other rich hardwoods...

This image is the beginning, I will update more as it progresses.

Enjoying the sun and listening to The Dead Weather today.

Monday 7 September 2009

Its been a while...

It has been quite a while since I updated this.
I took a month or so out from doing any drawing/design work. Needed to clear my head and get a fresh look on work, after the manic rush of the end of 3rd year.
University: Complete.

I will be updating frequently from next week onwards - once out internet is up and running at home. (BT and I, are no longer friends.)

Here is a little something for now...

I am planning on adding more to the new site soon.

Wainy Rednesday

Today was the last day of my degree show.
Seemed to go well...

Pretty wet out, and very still in the air. An eerie ending.

Very weird day.
Plus, it has just taken me half an hour to work out that if you try and upload an image on here that is in CMYK, all the colours will switch around. Gotta be RGB for some reason.

Here's a cut-out-and-keep Mary:

Three weeks tomorrow, all of my work is due in...
The end is nigh!
I have my book finished - sent to the printers yesterday, and I will be picking it up after the weekend.

For the rest of the duration, I am going to focus on some mini projects - lecture posters... and right now I am working on some bottle labels. Should be interesting.

Will post some bits asap. I will update my website soon too!

Here are two things that I have been working on lately - a (fake) Mike Nelson lecture poster, and the cover for my book 'With Precious And Grace: The 1953 Isle of Man T.T.'
I will be putting more up on my website in the next week or so:

The London show went well at the start of this month - was very busy, and a great venue.
Brick Lane is possibly one of the coolest areas in the UK.

So, we are having a show on Brick Lane in April (2nd - 5th) in L-Town.
The theme of the show is Progress...

A project on 'Loves' and 'Passions' and just those little things that make life that little bit sparkly-er.... ha
And a project on the 1953 Isle of Man TT....

update

I am getting increasingly bad at updating this thing. It's not that I'm not doing anything, quite the opposite! Been so busy I havn't had a chance.
Currently, I am mainly working on a Poetry Taxi project for the Bath Literature Festival, a book based on MotorCycle magazine c.1953 and work for a show in London in April. (Amongst other things...)
Here are a few things I smashed out this afternoon after a big debate about a Theme for the London show:

I went to the Union Chapel in Islington on Monday to see an Evening with Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan.
It was unbelievable. They played for pretty much two hours, playing lots of the own stuff, things I'd never heard before and a whole series of covers ranging from old gospel songs, to Dreams, I Get a Kick out of You and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You....
Quite possibly the best gig I have ever seen.

Sunday 18 January 2009

dulli and lan

i cant remember if i put these up on here... but i like them.. so here they are
we have our london exhibition theme sorted - one mans rubbish is another mans treasure...
im using old motorcycle magazine from 1953, just before a famous TT race.

work for the poetry taxi is going well. we presented our ideas as a team on wednesday previous, and we are meeting with the bath literature people again on wednesday coming, where they are going to give us their choice of our three concepts... what happens next... we shall see!

off to see an evening with Greg Dulli and Mark Lanegan tomorrow night at union chapel in islington. gonna be ace.
